Samsung Galaxy Tab: personal remote control for everything

Offering a convenient and comfortable lifestyle, Samsung wants their new baby "Galaxy Tab" to be part of your home. Making the new device as your personal remote control for everything like oven, stove, HVAC, TV, robotic vacuum cleaner and refrigerator. It also has grocery manager to list the items inside your refrigerator and it also suggests recipes. Watch the video below...

I like the idea of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, I see that they are trying to pack in as many features as reasonably possible for the first series tablet. Although the price and smaller 7 inch screen size might be a minus point, especially when compared to the iPad's 10 inch screen. This article 'The Galaxy Tab VS The Apple iPad' takes a more in-depth look at the product comparison and makes some interesting observations between the technical specifications of the two tablet PCs. The thing with the Galaxy Tab is that it can make voice and video calls - something the iPad can't do, so that's a really strong selling point for the Galaxy Tab.

However, I don't understand how the Samsung Tablet can control everything in your home such as the Oven or refrigerator - those appliances would need to be adapted first to interact with the device remote software, and if those appliances can be adapted, then surely they would also work with an iPad and other portable devices that had the remote control software. Seems more like a marketing exercise to me.
